My name is Geraldine (Gerry) Matthews - a self taught artist whose passion for painting was nurtured by my father and uncles, all talented painters who inspired me from an early age.

My greatest joy is painting portraits, particularly African women - I love capturing the richness of their skin tones and the beautiful, vibrant colours of their traditional clothing. Alongside these portraits, I also love creating the occasional quirky, whimsical piece.

I work mainly in acrylics and oils but I love the soft, gentle touch of soft pastels and pencils.
