All about us
Clacton Arts Centre is a creative collective formed in 2023, with a long-term ambition to establish a permanent Arts Centre in Clacton when funding allows.
In the meantime, we work with local people, artists and organisations to bring creative events to the community – from live music and theatre to exhibitions, workshops and much more.
Over the past year, our art gallery has been a great success, providing opportunities for many local artists to exhibit and share their work.
The gallery also includes a dedicated studio space, where we run a growing programme of popular creative workshops and classes.
We’re passionate about supporting local creativity, bringing people together and helping to make the arts an active and visible part of life in Clacton.
Some of our past successes
Since we began, Clacton Arts Centre has been involved in a wonderfully varied mix of events and activities across the town.
From live music, open mic nights and community celebrations to art workshops, installations and special performances, we’ve enjoyed bringing creativity to some familiar – and sometimes unexpected – places!
Along the way, we’ve worked with local organisations, supported new and established performers, and created opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy and take part in the arts.

Our aims and how we achieve them
At the heart of Clacton Arts Centre is a simple aim: to help creativity thrive in Clacton and the wider Tendring community.
We want to create more opportunities for local artists, musicians, performers and other creative people to share their talents, while making the arts accessible and enjoyable for everyone. We particularly want to encourage opportunities for young people to discover, learn and develop their own creativity.
We do this by organising exhibitions, performances, workshops and community events, as well as working with other local groups and organisations. Our gallery and studio have already given us a place to bring people together, but our longer-term ambition is to establish a permanent arts centre offering an even wider range of creative and cultural activities.
We believe the arts can do much more than entertain. They can bring people together, improve wellbeing, build confidence, raise aspirations and create a stronger sense of pride in our local community.
By working in partnership with local people and organisations, raising funds and making the best use of the resources available to us, we hope to play our part in creating a lively, inclusive and thriving cultural community for Clacton, Tendring and beyond.

We’re always on the lookout for people who would like to support Clacton Arts Centre by volunteering their time.
From helping to set up events and stewarding at the gallery to distributing flyers, there are lots of ways to get involved and help things run smoothly.

Although some of our classes and activities charge a small fee to help cover costs, there are many other expenses involved in supporting a thriving arts community.
Venue hire, materials and equipment all play an essential part in what we do.
